They want those pretty wings
The kind that sings
Break, break, break
Let’s pull out those feathers
In seas of red.
For broken wings will have to rely on you
To be fed
You should know your place
And never push too far
Because you’re replaceable
Just as they all are.
So heed this warning
And stay in your lane
I’ve never hesitated
When it came to
I looked outside to find the answers that were on the inside
And it would be the first of many mistakes that I would have to make
To finally build the me that no one could shake.
On the edge of the bed,
Her feet dangles
Swinging forwards and backwards
Her hand hanging limply. Emptily.
Everything is so empty.
Like a soulless body vomiting out words
Regurgitate, regurgitate, regurgitate
She swallows her salted wounds,
As the wings on her blades tremble.
This is her redemption.
One of the greatest pain,
Is reconciling the darkness with the light.
But to live and breathe them both
Is the choice to abandon ego
That it never determined your worth.
I hate lying
But I hate it even more
When you give me no choice
But to lie.
I’m lying to keep your truth
Whilst denying my own truth.
The car ride back always feels so strange.
As if the day has ended,
And everything returns to what it once was.
The memories of the day will slowly fade
A lonely return to some place
For another moment to be replaced.
I let you dim my light,
So why are you still not satisfied?
You can’t live without comparing
The different hands that were dealt in life.
And let it hang over you, like a knife.
Why overly attach to materials in life
When you can’t carry it to the afterlife?
So don’t project your fears onto me
Or there will be strife.
